Welcome to Sonoma County GIS Central!

The Sonoma County GIS Central web site contains information about our program and quick links to data and other information.

Visit one of these sites for more general information about GIS, a glossary of terms, and online training.  You can also attend a local GIS user group meeting to find out more about how GIS is at work in your community.

GIS data available now

Download Sonoma County GIS "shapefiles" from our Vector Data page and digital aerial photography from our Raster Data page.   Metadata, or information about the data, are also available.

Please note that you must have a GIS program such as ArcView or ArcExplorer installed on your computer in order to load and use these data files properly.  These data are updated quarterly (January, April, July, and October).  We'll be adding new layers as they are approved by the various County agencies for public distribution.

For custom data requests please refer to our Sonoma County Data Distribution Fees 2010-11-Q1 (PDF).

Interactive GIS / Mapping Applications

ISD GIS Central is currently working with partners in County departments to develop interactive GIS web sites. The first site released to the public is the PRMD ActiveMap web site, which contains General Plan information relevant to unincorporated land in the County. ActiveMap allows you to use your Internet browser to search for an address or a parcel number, display map information, determine land use or zoning designation, and then print a report or map of the location.

Additional sites will be published and referenced here as they are completed.
